The Green Key
The Green Key is awarded by the Håll Sverige Rent Foundation. It is an international environmental award for hotels, youth hostels and camping sites that pay extra attention to the environment. The award is a testament to the hotel work for a reduced environmental impact and sustainable business.
ProfilHotels will through the certification demonstrate to both guests and employees that we take our environmental responsibilities fully. Today, Hotel President, Central Hotel and Hotel Riddargatan are certified and all hotels in the chain will be certified in 2010.
A hotel asking for the Green Key must meet a number of mandatory criteria in various areas such as environmental management with environmental policy, objectives and action plans as well as reduced environmental impact on water, energy, raw materials and products.
What are we doing for the environment?
The criteria include several areas that lead to a reduced environmental impact. These include the training of staff in environmental matters, that there is sorting of different factions, the use of compact fluorescent lamps, the use of environmental labeled cleaning and detergent and offering organic food.
International Environment Award
The Green Key is run internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), an organization that promotes sustainable development through various environmental programs, including the Blue Flag and Green Flag and is available in 42 countries around the world. All countries which are members of The Green Key follows the international kriterielista.
Who distributes the Green Key?
The Håll Sverige Rent Foundation (Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation) is responsible for the Green Key in Sweden. Håll Sverige rent is an opinion-forming organization working against littering, recycling and increased environmental awareness. The work undertaken including environmental awards, promotions, projects and programs.
